When a licensee joins the Elkhart County Board of REALTORS® they also join the State and National Association of REALTORS®. Becoming a REALTOR® gives you access to real estate and industry information on the local, state and national level. Information is immediately available by accessing the websites of the local, state and national associations www.ecbor.com, the local board website– www.indianarealtors.com, the state website – and www.realtor.org the national website. In addition, the state and national association send members magazines on a regular basis.
Local membership provides networking opportunities by attending the monthly membership meeting hosted by the Board where complimentary lunch and programs are offered. Other networking events are available through out the year such as the golf outing, canoe trip, bus trip, holiday auction etc.
Joining the local Board allows members to use the term REALTOR®. REALTOR® is a trademark that tells the public the member agrees to abide by the REALTORS® Code of Ethics. The Code of Ethics sets a higher standard for members to follow when conducing business. The local Board enforces the Code of Ethics and provides mediation and arbitration for members to use when a commission is in question.
Membership provides access to education opportunities on a local, state and national level including Continuing education required by law.
Board Membership does provide access to the Multiple Listing Service. The Multiple Listing Service is a database that houses all the member’s listings, works as a contractual agreement among its members for payment of commissions, as well as many other programs designed to enhance the agent’s ability to list, sell and appraise houses and other property types.
