Dear
MLS Update:
When
we had our MLS training, "say it ain't so Larnette"
spoke about Cache. Can you explain to me again what it is?
Cacheing
in Goshen
Dear
Cacheing:
Cache
is the term used to describe the amount of memory where data
is stored to decrease its load time. Cache is memory, so it's
measured in MB. In terms of web browsers, the Internet, and
re/xplorer, cache is used to describe the folder where previously
accessed web pages, scripts, cookies, images and so on are
stored for future use. This folder is called "temporary
internet files."
The
first time you visit a web page your browser saves a copy
of the page in cache. The next time you visit the page, your
browser will check to see if an update has occurred on the
page before loading the cached page. If the cached page is
found to be "stale" or outdated, a new or "fresh"
page will be loaded and saved in cache. Loading pages from
cache can greatly reduce the amount of time it takes for a
page to display.
Pages
are not permanently saved in a cache. You can empty or "clear"
your cache at any time. Clearing your cache ensures that you
are getting the newest files. However, this also means that
the first time you visit a web page, it may take longer to
load.
If
you want to clear your cache, following the instructions listed
below:
1. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. In the Temporary Internet Files area, click Delete Files.
4. In the Delete Files window, click OK.
5. Click OK to close the Internet Options window.
