Dear MLS Update,

I would like to use the prospecting system in our MLS. Can you tell me how to add a prospect and search for listings that would match?

Listing Prospector

Dear Listing Prospector,

I have listed below the steps from Re/Xplorer Help in our MLS system. Prospect data is confidential and can only be accessed by you. After you create a prospect, you will be notified by email when a new or changed listing matches one of your prospect's criteria.

To create a prospect:

  • On the Re/Xplorer Main Menu, click Prospects and then click Add/Change Prospects on the sub-menu.
  • On the Prospect tab, in the Prospect ID box, enter a name or identifier for the prospect. You can use any name or identifier you want but use something that will help you identify the prospect from a list.
  • Enter the rest of the prospect information on the Prospect tab.
  • At the bottom of the screen, click Comments etc.
  • Enter the prospect email address, pager number and any comments you want to include. When entering the comments, press TAB when you reach the end of a line.
  • To change the information you entered on the previous screen, click Back.
  • To define a search for the prospect, click the Search tab and then define the search for the prospect.
  • Click the View tab and then choose a report format to view the search results.
  • To save the prospect, click Save . A confirmation appears when the prospect is saved. Once you have saved the prospect you can return to the Prospects tab to select a prospect and then click the View tab to create a report for the prospect search results.
  • To print a report, on the View tab, click Print and then click OK when the Print window appears.

Find Listings for a Prospect

  • On the Re/Xplorer Main Menu, click Prospects.
  • To search for listings for one or all of your prospects, click Prospect Search on the sub-menu.
  • Select the prospects you want to use. To select more than one prospect, hold CTRL as you click prospects. To select all prospects in the list, click Select All.
  • To search for new matches since the last search, select Since Last Used and then click the Set Last Run Date button to set today as the last time the prospect search was performed (this will help you the next time you perform this prospect search). If you want to search for new matches within a specific time frame, enter the number of days to search backwards in the Days Back box.
  • Click the View tab and choose a report to view the results. At the bottom of the screen, you may see Next Page or Next Prospect . Use these links to navigate the report.
  • To print the listings, click the Print Options tab. Choose the type of reports you want to print including the order in which you want them to print and then click Format Print File . On the File menu, click Print and when the Print window appears, click OK .
