RESPA ISSUES

RESPA stands for Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act and it is about closing costs and settlement procedures. RESPA requires that consumers receive disclosures at various times in the transaction and outlaws kickbacks that increase the cost of settlement services. RESPA is a HUD consumer protection statue designed to help homebuyers be better shoppers in the home buying process, and is enforced by HUD.

Speaker Bio:
Chuck Cain is an attorney who has been in the Title Insurance industry since 1977. He is a graduate of the Ohio State University and Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. He is admitted to practice in Ohio and Kentucky, several Federal District courts and the U. S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. He is former chair of the Real Property section of the Cincinnati Bar Association, a former director of the Cincinnati Mortgage Banker's Association and a recipient of a special citation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development concerning Fair Housing Best Practices.
