Dear MLS Update,

I have noticed on the map in the MLS that there are different colors of houses that appear. Can you tell my why this would be? Also, if the house is wrong on the map, who do I call?

Coloring in Goshen

Dear Coloring,

The color of the house icon indicates how precisely the address has been plotted. The list below summarizes what the house icon colors mean:

  • Green Icon is plotted at address
  • Blue Icon is plotted within the zip+4 area
  • Red Icon is plotted within the zip
  • Yellow Icon is plotted at the city level

One thing that helps placing the listing correctly is if the zip+4 is added when entering the listing. You can find the last 4 digits of the zip code in the tax database. If the house is mapped incorrectly, please email all the information including where the house specifically should be and the MLS number to the MLS office at mls@ecbor.com. Your request will be forwarded to Fidelity.

Dear MLS Update,

How can I personalize a report?

Reporting in Elkhart

Dear Reporting,

The following instructions were taken from the "help" menu in the MLS. If you have the time, you might want to visit this area of the MLS. There is a lot of information that may be helpful to you.

Creating a Personalized Report

You can personalize the headers and footers of standard reports with an office and agent banner, prepared for and prepared by text, and two lines of comments.

Reports that can be personalized are indicated by an asterisk (*) in the standard report format list.

When you e-mail a personalized report, the graphics will not display unless you set up your account for personalized reports. To personalize a report:

  1. Perform a search as normal and then click the View tab.
  2. From the list of standard report formats, choose the report with an asterisk (*) in front of its name.
  3. Click Personalize. The Personalization Input window displays.
  4. In the first section of the window, enter the URL for the office banner graphic to include in the report or click Browse to locate the file. By default, the location of the office banner graphic you specify will auto-fill in this box. You can edit this location as needed. Note: File names for graphics used in personalized reports cannot have any spaces. Additionally, the names of any folders containing the graphics cannot have spaces. For example, a graphic in a folder named "My Graphics" cannot be used because the folder name contains a space.
  5. If you plan on e-mailing the report to a client you must first ensure that the graphics you are using are publicly accessible. Choose where you want the office banner to display by selecting one of the options available. Be aware that items selected to display at Report Top will always display first, followed by Page Top and then Report Bottom.
  6. Repeat steps 4 through 6 for the agent banner.
  7. In the Prepared for: and Prepared by: boxes enter the appropriate text. The Prepared by: text will auto-fill from your agent file.
  8. In the box on the bottom of the screen enter text or comments for the customer.
  9. Choose where you want the Prepared for:, Prepared by:, and comment lines to appear in the report by selecting one of the options available. Only two lines of comments are allowed.
  10. Click Activate to apply the personalization options to the report and close the Personalization Input window.
  11. The next time you choose the same customizable report format, the personalization options you used for this report will auto-fill in the Personalization Input window. You can change these options as needed.
  12. To e-mail the report, click E-Mail. C
  13. Click Clear to clear the personalization options on the current page. The default options will not be cleared.
