KEYPAD UPDATE IS CHANGING TO DAILY EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 2005
Why did the update schedule change from 7 days to daily?
The Board of Directors voted to move to a daily keypad update effective August 1, 2005. The Board has been considering this change for many months and delayed the decision as long as possible. The benefits of a daily update are many. As of August 1 st , the MLS will be able to deactivate keypads that have been lost/stolen or not returned by an agent who has left the business, within 24 hours instead of 7days. This is an additional safety feature for sellers. The MLS recently experienced a lock box shortage and was not able to order more lock boxes because our keypads would not work with the new key box. Now the MLS will be able to restock inventory immediately with the new Iboxes. Agents who do business in St. Joe County , Kosciusko and Northeastern MLS will be able to show houses without doing extra work and without the fear of being stranded. Agents will be able to receive showing information on a daily basis instead of once every 7 days.
What do key holders need to do to move to the new update schedule?
Agents will need to do a manual esync on August 1, 2005 and then the keypad will be updated. Then the key must be placed in the cradle every night to receive an update code. Supra isallowing agents to call for an update two times prior to the next required update. This will be available during the next 30 days as agents get used to the new update schedule. After the 30 day period is expired, then agents will be allowed one phone call between updates. Agents can also utilize any cradle and do a manual esync if they forgot to put the keypad on the cradle.
What do key holders need to do on a regular basis?
Agents will need to place the keypad in the cradle every night. This allows the keypad to charge the battery, send showing information to the main computer and receive updates for all the MLS's the agent belongs to either as a paid member or through shared service. Recently, agents have come in with keypads with low batteries and we are finding agents are not placing the keypad in the cradle for any length of time. The battery only charges when it is placed on the cradle, just like a cell phone. A low battery can cause all kinds of issues that can be avoided by placing the keypad on the cradle every night.
