Board Meeting Highlights

The Board of Directors met on February 8, 2007 at the Board Office. MLS President Jeff Birky and ECBOR President Tona Ambrosen opened the meeting at 8:35.

Julie Alert gave a report that included the announcement that Karl Berron had been named the new IAR Executive Vice President.  Karl is currently the VP of Governmental Relations and will work both positions until a replacement can be found for VP of Governmental Relations.

The Board also reviewed the 2007 state forms changes. The changes are available on ZipForm and the Board office will have the updated forms available in print shortly.

ECBOR President, Tona Ambrosen reported on Tri-annuals.  MLS President, Jeff Birky updated the Board on the sale of the Main Street property.  The sale has run into some challenges and they will be addressed by the facilities task force. The Board authorized Jeff to obtain a second appraisal, if needed.

The BR Task Force presented a proposal that recommended partnering with eTruth to allow them to display active residential listings on their website.  The proposal included the proposed contract and layout design that would be develop to maximize agent exposure and contact opportunities.  The proposal was given to Board counsel to review by the next meeting . He was asked to bring any recommended changes to the Board’s attention. The Board asked that the proposal be redone to include risk factors, examples of other MLS decisions, and a marketing plan and present it again at the March Board meeting.  MLS motion passed to table the issue until next month.

The Board discussed the voice mail presentation given in January. They liked the product and would like to move forward but Julie reported the South Bend Mishawaka Association has elected to continue with Egix as their voice mail provider. The Board felt it was critical to maintain interconnectivity with South Bend even though they were interested in the 1NUM product.  1NUM will be advised of this issue and asked to review our options.  The Board felt the individual voice mail numbers needed to be on all MLS listings filed.  MLS staff will contact Fidelity to add a mandatory free form field or an auto fill field for voice mail number.  The Board has asked that staff provide in-house voice mail training at time of new member application.  They asked the training focus on set-up and functionality so members will know how to use A and M etc.

The Board voted on new members and one new MLS office.

The next Board of Directors meeting will be held on March 8, 2007 at 8:30 AM at the Board Office.
