JOINT MARCH MEMBERSHIP MEETING     ELKHART COUNTY BOARD OF REALTORS® & Home Builders Association of Elkhart County

*This meeting will last longer than the usual membership meetings. The speaker’s program is 45 minutes and we are joining with Home Builders.  Both organizations have agreed to limit their business meetings due to the length of the program.

What does Morton Marcus talk about?
Mr. Marcus has no set talk. He discusses current economic issues in light of the organization or community he is addressing. If the group is national in scope and concerned with international factors, his talk will feature an informed discussion of recent events and long-term linkages that are pertinent to his hosts. If the audience is diverse in nature, but local in origin, he will zero in on common factors drawn from his extensive experience with ordinary life across the U.S. as evidenced in the specific community.

With a relaxed and humorous style, Marcus brings difficult concepts into focus, makes sense of government policies, and provides new insights into complex trends. He will take todays headlines and put them into the context of our times. In his hands, economics is not the dismal science, but the art and fun of prospering responsibly.

Always willing to be a bit outrageous, Marcus will refute cherished economic beliefs, whether they come from the lips of politicians, business tycoons, labor leaders, or TV personalities. And he will give both sides of the story concerning interest rates, capital gains, the stock market, the new economy, globalization, investment in education, or any trendy view.

Mr. Marcus is a dynamic speaker, at ease with large or small groups. He regularly addresses fourth grade classes as comfortably as he testifies before legislative and regulatory groups. He can give a sermon to a church conference on the Moral Foundations of Capitalism, an inspirational pep-talk to a Chamber of

Commerce annual meeting, or explain the mysteries of local property tax bills to anxious homeowners.

 Who is Morton Marcus?

Morton Marcus has taught economics for 33 years at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

He has served six Indiana governors as an advisor on taxation and economic development.  His observations on the Midwest economy have been seen by viewers of the News Hour on PBS and read in newspapers across America.
