MLS motion passed to close the key deposit account 30 days after remitting funds to Supra.

Ecbor motion passed to adopt the decision of the Professional Standards Hearing Panel as presented.

MLS motion passed to accept Integity REALTORS®, Principal Broker Teresa Brown as Participants.

MLS motion passed to adopt a Temporary Leave for the benefit of MLS members who have a Medical or Military situation that does not allow them to participate. The MLS board did require a personal signed statement as well as a document from a doctor or the military showing the need for a leave. Ecbor dues must be kept current to qualify for this MLS status. Specific terms of this new status will be defined and presented to the Board in April.

The Board and MLS reviewed information sent from the city of Elkhart relating how violations of the signage and zoning ordinances have increased. The city requests that we alert our members to the various ways the violations occur and warn them that the city will follow through with violators.

MLS HIGHLIGHTS

CHECK THE ACCURACY OF YOUR DATA AND YOUR PHOTOS

As a listing agent, you should be certain that the data appearing on the MLS system is accurate to the best of your knowledge for your listings. That means that you should print out your listings and check them for accuracy after they have been entered. This is not only a way to avoid mistakes from happening but a way to save the MLS from issuing fines.

Please remember that much of the information you enter into the MLS can be seen by the world. The listings that are entered into the MLS are then sent to the national aggregator REALTOR®.com. The listings are also displayed on participating Broker Reciprocity sites for the public to access as well.

Another issue is MLS photos. When you enter your listing in an Elkhart County area the MLS photographer takes a photo of your listing. Although the photographer does attempt to take all photos accurately and in a timely fashion, you should check ten days or so later to make sure there is a photo on-line and that it is the correct photo. If not, please call your MLS immediately. Please remember that it is the responsibility of the agent to submit sketches for vacant land and photos for out of county listings. Failure to submit a sketch or photo will result in fine until the sketch or photo is received. You may e-mail your photos/sketches to: photos@ecbor.com. Again, please take the time to check your listing to help avoid problems in the future.

MEMBERS….WATCH YOUR SIGN PLACEMENT

We encourage you to be aware that each community and/or subdivision may have rules governing the placement of your signs. It is very important to adhere to the requirements issued in these areas if you wish to keep the freedom to post signs

The Board has been notified by the city of Elkhart that members are violating the sign ordinance and they will begin pulling signs that are improperly placed. The city informs us that most of the violations are as follows:
-signs are in the right of way
-signs are placed in yards without permission
-open house signs are put out too far in advance of the date of the
open house and are not picked up in a timely fashion after the open
house is over.
If you need a copy of the sign ordinances for the various communities call the Zoning Administator. Please be considerate of others and place your signs legally and with the permission of the proper people.

FRAMING IS NOW AN OPTION FOR OFFICES AND AGENTS

Have you heard about Broker Reciprocity and wondered how do you participate? Well, the MLS now has a solution for those who do not wish to invest thousands of dollars or the time into building their own Broker Reciprocity product. If you are interested in hosting a consumer listing search on your website or if you are looking for a web solution that comes with a listing search that is both affordable and easy you should check out the MLS framing solution.

The requirements for starting are as follows:

  • For agents, you must get the written permission of your Principal Broker to use the MLS framing solution.
  • Decide on the product you wish to use.
  • Call the MLS to receive the proper paperwork authorizing us to set up your Broker Reciprocity solution and the paperwork you will sign agreeing to obey the rules and pay the fees.
  • Fill out the paperwork, pay the startup fees and return it to the MLS.
  • In about ten days your product will be ready for you. Billing for monthly hosting will be done on a quarterly basis.
Check here for more information.
