Whats going on with the new MLS system?
As everyone knows, the MLS signed a contract with Fidelity (FNIS) to move to a new MLS system. The MLS system is called PARAGON and we will be installing version 3. We are waiting for the Project Manager from FNIS to confirm the conversion dates. When confirmation is received the MLS office will send a packet of information to all MLS Participants outlining the schedule and giving information on what can be done to prepare.
At this point, our tentative training date is scheduled for the first days of March. However, until we receive confirmation we can only estimate the time. Training will be available for staff and all agents. We are also considering a “Train the Trainer” session that allows us to train members as instructors. This will be offered to any office who has an in-house trainer as well as members interested in doing additional training for the MLS.
So stay tuned to this web site and newsletter because this is where we will put the information as it comes to us.

Do Not Fax Rule
NAR has been able to secure an extension on the effective date of the proposed "DO NOT FAX RULE" from December 31, 2004 to June 30, 2005. NAR does support efforts to limit unsolicited faxes but believes the FCC went too far by requiring singed, written permission for faxes. It is estimated that over 67 million permission forms would have to be created and stored to sustain the over 6 million home sales transactions that occurred last year. "Without this delay, Realtors soon would not be able to fax property listings to consumers who call and request the information without first getting written permission. The written permission would not be faxable. This extension gives Congress time to enact legislation that will eliminate junk faxes without creating costly regulations that burden legitimate businesses and stifle consumer's ability to receive information in a timely manner.

Continuing Education
We have been informed the con ed classes offered by the Board December 2nd and 3rd, will qualify to meet Appraisers con ed as elective credits with the exception of the first 2 hour class on Thursday morning titled "Appraisal Application".
Anyone who takes the Code of Ethics class on Friday, December 3rd will satisfy both their Continuing Education requirement for their license and the NAR membership requirement which must be met by December 31, 2004.
Anyone who has taken Code of Ethics classes from another provider will need to submit their paperwork to the Board. The class must be at least 2.5 hours long to satisfy NAR's mandate.
