Health Department

The Health department sent a letter to the Board informing us that some Realtors® are using the health department's short term radon tests results for real estate transactions. The health department's radon test kits are for homeowner's use only. According to the Indiana State Code 41 IAC 5.1 concerning radon, A Certified Radon Tester and Mitagator will need to be hired for any further radon investigations, including real estate transactions.

The health department offers these kits to homeowners as an inexpensive way to determine if and at what level they might be exposed to radon gas withintheir own home. It is not for use in the real estate transaction.

Also, the Seller Disclosure form will soon be changed to incorporate Radon language. We will keep you informed as this progresses.

Shared Service with Northeastern MLS

The Northeastern MLS and the Elkhart County MLS are working together to establish possible shared services for agents who wish to do business in each other's county. A decision should be made by December and information will be made available to the membership at that time.

License Renewal

The State of Indiana is sending out a one time notice for license renewal. We bring this to your attention because the renewal form looks like a colorful oversized postcard solicitation. Many of us agree we could have thrown it away without noticing what it was. So please pay attention to your mail and look for a Orange, White, Brown and Yellow postcard entitled " When Duty Calls..." The information on how to renew your license is on the back of the postcard. If you missed your postcard please read the following article.
