2006 ECBOR ANNUAL REALTOR® DUES AND RPAC BILLED
The 2006 Annual REALTOR® Dues were mailed out to the Brokers on August 16, 2005 and are due October 1, 2005. As last year, the opportunity to donate to RPAC is a part of the dues billing. We hope this will make it more convenient for you to contribute to RPAC.
Contributions to RPAC are voluntary and are used for political purposes. You may contribute more or less than the amount suggested or refuse to contribute without affecting your membership rights.
Remember, your contribution is an investment in your business and a commitment to preserving the future of your industry. RPAC helps elect officials at the national, state and local levels who support private property rights and the free enterprise system. 
ELKHART COUNTY BOARD OF REALTORS® TO HOST IAR PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS TRAINING SEMINAR
The Elkhart County Board of REALTORS® will be hosting the IAR Professional Standards Training seminar on Thursday, November 10, 2005 from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM at Bayer Federal Credit Union in Elkhart , Indiana. Registration begins at 8:30 AM.
Training is required for those who have not attended prior Professional Standards training classes who wish to be on the Grievance or Professional Standards committee. We highly recommend members who have had training in the past and those who are or want to be on the Board of Directors, attend this seminar to stay aware of the changes to the Code of Ethics and the Professional Standards procedures.
This seminar is approved for 2 mandatory and 4 elective continuing education credits. This course also fulfills the NAR Quadrennial Ethics training requirement. REAL ESTATE SPECULATOR ORDERED TO PRISON
(BALTIMORE) - A federal judge has sentenced real estate speculator Mazie Louise Jennings, 56, to two years in prison for her role in a land-flipping scheme that cost the government millions in loan defaults.
Jennings was charged with buying 49 rundown properties owned by the City of Baltimore and reselling them to low-income citizens at dramatically inflated prices, using false documentation to secure loans.
Authorities said she was the 100th person in recent months to be sentenced in land-flipping schemes in Baltimore, which is considered one of the worst loan-fraud cities in the country.
POLICE RAID HOME CLOSING
(GWINNETT, Ga.) - Police tipped off by a home seller raided a home closing and arrested three people - a real estate agent, loan officer and straw buyers - who allegedly were participating in a mortgage fraud scheme.
Detectives said the three were attempting to collect a fraudulent payout. The home seller was only seeking $449,000 for her property but the buyers' mortgage documents put the price at $525,000.
Arrested were real estate broker Phil Lynn Delaney, loan officer Rodney Eugene Smith and buyer Tasha Levon Williams. Other transactions involving the three also are under investigation.
CAPTURED ATTACKER TRIED TO ENTER HOMES FOR SALE
( DOVER , N.H. ) - Police have charged a man with one rape and believe he is responsible for terrorizing other women whose homes were for sale. The man would pose as a home buyer to gain entry to their homes and then attack them.
Arrested was Oliver Hooper of Gorham , Maine . The rape occurred in Dover , N.H. , but other attempted attacks were in northern Massachusetts and southern Maine . One woman said the man knocked on her door and asked if she had any children at home. When he persisted in wanting to enter, she asked the man to leave and called police.
Police said they had as many as 10 reports of the man approaching female home sellers.
